Today an Etappe, from Poitier to Brie (not of the cheese, I think, because I do not smell anything). 131 km across a lot of hills. I felt very well. It was good to stop in Poitier, yesterday, because of recuperation and to see the town.
In Brion I had hoped to find a cafe (my book indicated) (every morning after 40 km I appreciate that), but there was nothing. So I asked a guy in a car. He spontaniously offered me a coffee in his home. Thank you Michel, very nice!!!
In Charroux there are the ruins of a 8th century monastery (Charlemagne), with an exceptional tower. On the bench was a 70 year old guy sitting with whom I talked somewhat. I think he was sitting ther all his life, and talked to every pilgrim.
At the end of the day it started to rain, although the rest of the day was perfect for cycling, not too hot, but too much wind (again). I am busy changing my route. I changed it already to the eastern variant, with more variation, I hope. I have to decide whether I will cross the Somport pass (1632 m) instead of passing teh Pyrenees along the coast. I have a few days to go. You will here from me.
